KRK 204 Installation

Welcome to the KRK 204 installation guide. The following is a few photos and instructions to help you install your new part.

HU4 and HU3

For the HU4 and HU3 the installation is quite similar.  Start by removing all the screws on the back of the handset.

Take the remote backing and turn it 90 degrees.  You should not need to remove any connected wires for this installation.

Carefully remove the battery release part.  Make sure not to lose the spring. This will give you a bit more room to work and it's better to remove this part in case it gets hooked, springs away or gets lost during the installation.

With a wrench or multi-tool, grab the lock nut holding the original remote holder. With a second wrench or multi-tool, grab the remote holder from the exterior and start unscrewing the remote holder from the outside of the remote.  This will avoid moving the wrench or multi-tool on the inside of the remote which could damage the circuit boards.

Once you have removed the old remote holder, place the provided lock nut on the inside of the remote over the hole.  Hold in place with your finger and start by hand tightening the KRK through the remote body and into the lock nut. Once hand tight, use your wrench or multi-tool to hold the nut in place while you keep tightening the KRK by spinning it clockwise from the outside of the remote.  Once it is almost completely tight, place the KRK in the orientation that you wish to have it in and hold it in position from the exterior. Finish the final 1/4 turn or so with the wrench or multi-tool on the inside of the remote body while being careful not to damage the circuit boards.

Place back the battery lock.  Make sure it still has a smooth spring action. Take the remote backing and place it back on the remote.  Make sure that no cables get pinched between the remote body and the backing when putting the backing  on the remote.

Put the screws back in and voila!

Single Channel

Start by removing all the screws on the back plate of the remote.

Remove the back plate and spin it 180 degrees.  You should not need to disconnect any wires for this installation.

Carefully remove the battery release part.  Make sure not to lose the spring. This will give you a bit more room to work and its better to remove this part is case it gets hooked, springs away or gets lost during the installation.

With a wrench or multi-tool, grab the lock nut holding the original remote holder. Once you have removed the old remote holder, reuse the lock nut that you just removed. For this installation the lower profile lock nut is needed.  Hold in place with your finger and start by hand tightening the KRK through the remote body and into the lock nut. Once hand tight use your wrench or multi-tool to hold the nut in place while you keep tightening the KRK by spinning it clockwise from the outside of the remote.  Once it is almost completely tight, place the KRK in the orientation that you wish to have it in and hold it in position from the exterior. Finish the final 1/4 turn or so with the wrench or multi-tool on the inside of the remote body while being careful not to damage the circuit boards or wires.

Put the battery lock back into place.  Make sure it still has a smooth spring action. Take the remote backing and return it to the remote.  Make sure that no cables get pinched between the remote body and the backing when putting the backing on the remote.

Put the screws back in.

Voila!
